DP World Luanda invests 100 million kwanzas in the remodeling of a primary school in Maianga

DP World Luanda recently delivered to the Provincial Government of Luanda – within the scope of its social responsibility and support program for communities – primary school 1134, in the district of Maianga, after having invested 100,000,000 kwanzas in the remodeling of its facilities.

The event was attended by the Ministers of Transport, Ricardo Viegas D'Abreu, and of Education, Luísa Maria Grilo, as well as the Governor of the Province of Luanda, Ana Paula de Carvalho.

A statement sent to VerAngola by the company states that, with this refurbishment, the school complex benefited from the construction of a multipurpose sports pavilion, full painting, creation of new classrooms, rehabilitation of bathrooms and green areas, as well as the installation of new pipelines for the installation of electricity and drinking water.

A computer room was also built and equipped with new computers and other IT accessories to support the proper development of students, providing them with access to new digital tools.

"Supporting education, the environment and communities is central to our strategic corporate responsibility program, both globally and in Africa. Education is a key element in driving the prosperity of communities and nations, so it is our duty to play a part. an important role in improving and expanding the school network, as well as enriching the educational experience of each child and young person of school age, said Francisco Pinzón, CEO of DP World in Luanda.

The Transport minister, in turn, emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships for Angola's economic and social development. "It is the responsibility of the State to create the conditions for private companies to prosper. It is up to these companies to invest in good management practices, in innovative tools and in training, so that the results of their investments allow us to share together the success of the investments, as as we witnessed in the integral remodeling of this school and the benefit it represents for this community", he said.

It is recalled that DP World has managed the operations of the Multipurpose Terminal at the Port of Luanda since March 2021, the date on which it won the tender for its operation. It has an investment plan of US$190 million in infrastructure to transform and modernize the terminal, making it a structure capable of supporting the diversification of the economy and the social development of the country.

The DP World Luanda team intends to transform the facilities of the Multipurpose Terminal at the Port of Luanda into the largest port platform in operation on the western coast of Southern Africa, with the aim of increasing trade between Angola and neighboring countries.
