Ministry announces opening of applications for 300 scholarships for study abroad

The Government announced the opening of applications for scholarships under the Annual Sending Program of 300 graduates/masters to the best universities in the world, as of January 17, 2022.

According to a notice from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, to which Lusa had access, applications only for graduates/masters with "high performance and academic merit" run until March 31, 2022.

Scholarships - available by level of education for the year 2022 - are in the medical specialties and master's, for candidates aged 30 years and under, and doctorate, for candidates aged up to 35 years.

For access to the 300 scholarships, the applications, as mentioned in the note, will be made exclusively on the official website of the National Institute of Scholarship Management (Inagbe) at the address candidatura.inagbeangola.com.

Having a degree for the master's course, a degree in medicine for medical specialties, having a master's degree or having completed a degree for the doctoral course and having a final average of 16 points or more are some of the requirements.

Applicants must be sent to universities in 27 countries, including South Africa, Argentina, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, South Korea, Denmark, Spain, USA, Japan, Poland, Portugal, UK, Singapore, Ukraine and others .

The ministry underlines that the selection process will take place in Angola and will be ensured by a national jury, comprising seven consecutive and eliminatory phases.

Application, document analysis, knowledge tests, interview centered on competences, final interview, medical examinations and selection by the foreign higher education institution are the referred phases.

The commitment to return to the country after the end of postgraduate training and to work for a minimum period of five years in any public or private government agency, after completing training in this program, are some of the selection criteria.

The notice, signed by the Ministry's incumbent, Maria do Rosário Sambo, points out that the annual execution program "will support the costs of the scholarship subsidy, tuition fees, air tickets to and from Angola, subsidy for research and participation in scientific events" .

The Annual Sending Program for 300 Angolan graduates/masters to different universities around the world was approved by presidential decree nº 67/19 of 22 February.
