Country moves forward with elimination of import duties for products from AFTA countries

Angola will move forward with the gradual elimination of import duties for products from countries that are part of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFTA). The measure saw a 'green light', this Tuesday, at the meeting of the Economic Commission of the Council of Minister.

The measure, according to the final communiqué of the commission's meeting, is based on the memorandum on Angola's Tariff Offer Proposal, within the scope of the AFTA, writes Angop.

In 2020, Angola ratified the agreement that determines the AFTA - a zone that aims to generate a commercial area without obstacles.

The list of countries that make up the free trade area includes Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Burundi, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, among others. .

At the meeting, the document on the assumptions to be established within the framework of the Strategic Food Reserve was also examined.

Also noteworthy is the approval of the State Budget Execution Report for the third quarter of 2021.
