The President of the Republic congratulated the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, on the “convincing victory” of the Socialist Party in the legislative elections on Sunday.

:

"The electoral results that give your party an absolute majority express the renewal of confidence that the Portuguese people place in your Excellency and in the Socialist Party, which is given a clear mandate to lead Portugal in stability in the coming years and to pursue the policies that meet the great aspirations of your nation and the Portuguese", said João Lourenço in the message.

The head of state expressed Angola's interest in developing and intensifying the "very fruitful" cooperation relations that the two peoples, countries and governments maintain with each other.
João Lourenço also wished António Costa "the best of wishes for many successes" in the performance of the leadership functions of the Government of Portugal.

In turn, the vice-president of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), Luísa Damião, congratulated the ruling party on "the resounding victory" of the Socialist Party in these elections.

"Your victory is the result of the hard work of mobilization and represents the renewal of the confidence of the Portuguese people in the leadership of the Socialist Party, with a view to finding adequate solutions towards development and social progress", the message highlights.

The MPLA vice-president assures the party's availability "to continue to work towards strengthening relations of friendship, solidarity and cooperation with the Socialist Party".
