Suggested 90-day moratorium for companies to adapt to reduced VAT rate

With a view to adapting to the reduction in the VAT rate, the deputies of the National Assembly (NA) suggested a 90-day moratorium for companies to adapt their systems to the new regime, without charging interest and fines.

In the package of suggestions for applying the 2022 General State Budget (OGE), approved and published in Diário da República, it is advised "that in the context of the implementation of the measure to reduce the VAT rate from 14 percent to 7 percent , that taxpayers are given sufficient time to parameterize the management software for a period of 90 days, without charging interest and fines".

According to Expansão, the list of recommendations also highlighted the request that "mechanisms to reduce the public debt ratio be activated to acceptable levels, in accordance with the Public Finance Sustainability Law" as well as "within the scope of the Prodesi that the current package of incentives to promote national production be re-evaluated".

Also noteworthy is the suggestion of withdrawing three billion kwanzas from the project 'Nascer Livre para Shinar' and redirecting them to the programs to Combat Malaria and Combat Tuberculosis.

A total of 112 recommendations were left, spread over eight sectors, writes Expansão.
