The contradictory instruction of what became known as "Operação Caranguejo" is a phase that aims to clarify and complete some aspects of the prosecution by the Public Ministry, before the trial begins, reported Rádio Nacional de Angola.

However, not all the representatives of the defendants requested this phase, optional, handed over to Judge Adélio Chocolate.

The defendants, including officers of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and civilians, are accused of crimes of embezzlement, money laundering, criminal association, abuse of power and illegal currency trade.

Angolan Major Pedro Lussati, considered the leader of the group, was arrested in June last year, after being found in possession of millions of dollars, euros and kwanzas stored in suitcases, crates and vehicles.

Several movable and immovable assets of the FAA military officer indicted for the crimes of embezzlement, retention of currency and criminal association were also seized.

Following this arrest, several officers linked to the President's Security House were dismissed, including General Pedro Sebastião, then Minister of State and Head of Security House of João Lourenço, who was replaced in office by General Francisco Pereira Furtado.
