Unitel moves to court to gain control of Isabel dos Santos' participation in NOS

Unitel wants to contest the loans made to Isabel dos Santos to buy shares in the Portuguese NOS. To do so, the telecommunications company will file a lawsuit in court to hold the 26.075 percent of the company's shares in NOS.

:

Activist Rafael Marques, quoted by the Portuguese weekly Expresso, explained that Isabel dos Santos has bought the shares in NOS "under a loan made by Unitel to the company itself".

According to the same newspaper, a team of lawyers from Unitel will have already requested, in a Lisbon court in Portugal, a lawsuit to gain control of Isabel dos Santos' shares in the Portuguese company.

It should be remembered that Isabel dos Santos, through Vidatel, owned 25% of Unitel. However, in December last year, the entrepreneur lost control of the company, after a decision by the British Virgin Islands Supreme Court.

In March 2020, Isabel dos Santos' shares in NOS were seized by the Central Criminal Court. The majority shareholder in NOS is ZOPT - half controlled by the Sonae group and half by Isabel dos Santos - which owns 52 per cent of the Portuguese company.
