Petro de Luanda qualifies for the group stage of the African ‘Champions’

Petro de Luanda ensured this Wednesday the presence in the group stage of the African Champions League of football, by winning 1-0 against the Zambians of Nkana, in the second leg of the second qualifying round.

A goal by Brazilian Tony, in the 77th minute, 'sealed' the qualification of the Angolan team, who two weeks ago, in the first leg, had drawn 1-1 in Zambia.

On Tuesday, the other national team present in the second qualifying round, the 1 st of August, was eliminated by the South Africans of the Kaizer Chiefs, after losing 1-0, after the 'null' (0-0) registered in the first game.

Right in the group stage of the Champions League is also Zamalek, trained by Portuguese Jaime Pacheco. The Egyptians, finalists of the last edition of the competition, benefited from the lack of appearance of Gazelle, from Chad, in the first game between both and they qualified automatically.

The African Champions League group stage draw takes place on Friday.
