Covid-19: country registers 188 more cases, one death and 377 recovered

The country registered 188 more cases of covid-19, one death and 377 patients considered recovered, in the last 24 hours, informed the Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta.

Of the new cases, 70 were diagnosed in Lunda Sul, 52 in Huambo, 33 in Luanda, 18 in Kwanza Sul, six in Zaire, four in Bié, two in Benguela and also in Moxico, one in Huíla and another in Uíge, aged between 2 months and 87 years, of which 123 were male and 65 female.

There was also one death, a 55-year-old citizen, while 377 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.

Angola has a total of 18,613 cases, of which 2180 patients are under treatment, 16,008 recovered and 425 died.

A total of 2320 samples were processed per RT-PCR, in a cumulative total of 329,366 tests, as well as 769 serological tests.

The minister made a call to the travelers to follow the preventive measures before the trip and to strictly comply with the quarantine.

Angola announced this Thursday the suspension of flights with Portugal, South Africa and Brazil, from January 24th, and the obligation of a quick post-departure test for all passengers, from Saturday.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 1,979,596 deaths resulting from more than 92.3 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

In Portugal, 8384 people died out of 517,806 confirmed cases of infection, according to the most recent bulletin of the Directorate-General of Health.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
