Country registers 72 more cases and two deaths by covid-19 in the last 24 hours

The country registered 72 new infections, two deaths and 110 people considered recovered, now accounting for 17,756 positive cases, 410 deaths and 11,376 recoveries, health authorities informed this Tuesday.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health (DNSP) distributed this Tuesday, 51 cases were registered in Luanda, seven in Huambo, five in Bié, four in Uíge, two in Kwanza Sul and one in Benguela and the same number in Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte.

The cases are of people between the ages of 17 and 74, 40 male and 32 female.

The deaths reported in the last 24 hours concerned two Angolan citizens, one male and the other female, aged 4 and 55, in the provinces of Luanda and Lunda Sul, with 173 patients admitted to treatment centers.

The laboratories have processed 1051 samples per RT-PCR in the last 24 hours, with a cumulative to date of 315,247 samples processed, with a positivity rate of 5.6 percent.

For now the country has 5970 active cases, of which three are in critical condition, eight severe, 72 moderate, 90 light and 5797 asymptomatic.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 1,854,305 deaths as a result of more than 85 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

In Africa, there are 67,928 confirmed deaths and more than 2.8 million infected in 55 countries, according to the most recent statistics about the pandemic in the continent.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
