Covid-19: country with 42 new cases and 43 recoveries in the last 24 hours

The country registered 42 new infections, no deaths and 43 recoveries, in the last 24 hours, now accounting for 17,684 positive cases and maintaining 408 deaths, was this Monday announced.

According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, the cases in the last 24 hours are 36 from Luanda, three from Bié, two from Benguela and one from Cabinda, 26 male and 16 female, aged 12 to 68.

According to the governor, recoveries were registered 39 in Luanda and four in Cuando Cubango, in people aged between 4 months and 60 years, totaling 11,266 patients who were discharged, which points to a recovery rate of 63.7 percent.

For now the country has a total of 6010 active cases, two of which are critical, eight severe, 78 moderate, 78 mild, and 5844 asymptomatic, with 166 patients in the treatment centers.

As far as clinical analyses are concerned, 707 samples have been processed in the last 24 hours, 42 of which are positive, giving a daily positivity rate of 5.9 percent, while the cumulative figure points to 314,196 samples processed to date, 17,684 of which are positive, translating into a cumulative positivity rate of 5.6 percent.

In the testing at the entry and exit points of Luanda province, under sanitary fence, 1088 people were tested, 848 men and 240 women, of which 133 were reactive, however, no positive cases were found in the tests for confirmation of the disease.

In a comparison of national indicators in the weeks of 21 to 28 December and 28 December to date today (Monday, January 4), the Secretary of State said that in the first week 610 new cases were registered, 625 recovered, 28 active and 13 deaths.

In the second week, until this Monday, 388 new cases were registered, 946 recovered, 563 assets and five deaths.

"This brings us to the following conclusion, that this week, compared to the previous week, we had a decrease in 63.6 percent of new cases, a recovery in 155 percent of cases and a reduction in 38.5 percent of deaths," said Franco Mufinda.

The ruler stressed that despite the reduction indicators, the disease continues to exist, and it is necessary to strengthen health education measures, with the use of the mask, frequent hand washing with water and soap, physical distance between people, avoiding population agglomerations, violating the health fence and discrimination against people contaminated by SARS-CoV-2.

The covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,843,631 deaths as a result of more than 85 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.
