João Lourenço highlighted that the new center "is not behind any other hemodialysis center in the world". According to the head of state, treatment is free, stressing that a very large investment has been made in the social sector, particularly in health, noting that, two years ago, there was very little capacity to care for patients in need of hemodialysis.
"The investment is large, not only in hemodialysis, but in health units in general and we will continue to work to ensure that Angolans no longer have the need to travel abroad in a medical board to be able to treat, "he said.
The President underlined that the executive seeks with these investments to turn the situation around, causing the "large expense that the State has been covering over the years to pay medical expenses abroad" to be invested in Angola.
"This is our policy, we have been implementing it for the past two years, above all, slowly, but quite safely," he said.
The head of state mentioned investments of the kind already made over the past two years, namely in the provinces of Luanda, Moxico, Huíla, adding that Benguela should be ready in the first quarter of next year, as well as that of Cabinda.
"We will, as far as possible, try to make sure that at least each provincial capital has a hemodialysis center, because we recognize that the country is large and those who live in a province where these services are not served have to almost move house with the family. and this brings quite a lot of inconvenience ", he said.
João Lourenço praised the efforts for investments in the health sector, even with a budget "below" what was necessary.
"The truth is that even if we fall short, we are doing a lot, imagine if we had programmed the values that would be ideal.
Even though the ideals are not recognized, it is recognized that lately the investment made in health has been great ", he said.
