According to a note from the government of the province of Luanda, to which VerAngola had access, the President left the country from 4 de Fevereiro airport.
"At the farewell ceremony, at 4 de Fevereiro airport, in Luanda, there were members of the Government, with emphasis on the Provincial Governor of Luanda, Luís Manuel da Fonseca Nunes", points out the note.
After this protocol, João Lourenço is now on South African soil. It was during the afternoon of this Wednesday that the head of state disembarked at Waterkloof Air Base, where, in the company of the first lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, he was received by members of the executive of South Africa and Angola, as well as as well as the Angolan embassy in that country.
One of the highlights of the visit is meeting his South African counterpart. According to Angop, the meeting between João Lourenço and Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled for this Thursday.
This will be followed by dialogues between the two delegations, which will address the strengthening of collaboration in sectors such as energy, defense, higher education, education, among others. Several cooperation agreements will be signed.
The agenda also includes a South Africa-Angola Economic Forum, in which, according to Angop, João Lourenço will give a speech to expose the opportunities for collaboration in the Angolan economy. In addition to João Lourenço, Ramaphosa will also speak on the occasion, where several local businesspeople will be present.
On the eve of João Lourenço's visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, said that the two countries want to take a "qualitative leap" in relations, with the emphasis falling on the areas of agriculture, economy, energy, education and transport.
Speaking in Pretoria (South Africa), Téte António considered that this visit is "the true translation of the political will of the two leaders (...) to give a new dynamic to the relationship that connects these countries".
"This political desire for us to take a qualitative leap towards printing content adapted to the level of relations we have today and above all also to the level of needs and ambitions that each of our countries has", he said, adding: "At this moment , the qualitative leap we want to make is not only in content, but also from the point of view of the cooperation mechanisms that we have established".
