Among the current facilities of the emergency bank are two dozen beds for care in emergency, observation and care rooms, as well as four consulting rooms, laboratory and x-ray, writes Angop.

With this rehabilitation, the emergency unit is now ready to respond to the hectic movement of patients, whose numbers vary between 140 and 200 cases on peak days, generally on weekends, due to road accidents, common illnesses, between others.

Highlighting the provincial government's investment in the rehabilitation of said infrastructure, taking into account its relevance in health services in the region, Luís Varandas, director of Hospital Geral do Lobito, cited by Angop, also said that the provincial government carried out the renovation of the commitment to continue with the intervention in the infrastructure, with the possibility of eventually requalifying the imaging area and all related services.

In addition to the emergency bank, Luís Nunes also inaugurated the medicine warehouse at the aforementioned hospital, which is capable of storing up to 30 tons.

According to the director, obstacles related to the packaging and distribution of medicines to the units under the hospital's jurisdiction were overcome.

On the occasion, the hospital director also spoke about the problem of ensuring specialized care in the specialties of surgery, orthopedics, urology and internal medicine, adding that the hospital unit provides care to all emergency cases 24 hours a day, with 20 to 30 percent of situations seen daily are related to trauma.

Furthermore, another central point is improving maternity services, with the person in charge highlighting the support of the Provincial Health Office with a view to opening a specialty course, in order to increase the number of specialists. Quoted by Angop, he added that the infrastructure is already training general doctors within the scope of the procedure that aims to transform it into a "teaching hospital".

He also considered that "care for seriously ill patients in any area is a priority", also mentioning the need for training of specialists related to urgency and immediate care.
