New gas unit to be inaugurated in Zaire

The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, will inaugurate, next week, in the province of Zaire, the Gas Reception and Distribution Unit (URDG) of the Falcão project, phase two, whose main function will be the reception and treatment of natural gas from the Angola LNG factory for end users.

The inauguration is scheduled for next Thursday, December 14th, in a ceremony that will also feature the participation of governor Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, as well as other local entities, informs the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, in statement, to which VerAngola had access.

"The Gas Reception and Distribution Unit (URDG) of the Falcão project, phase 2, in the municipality of Soyo, Zaire province, will be inaugurated on Thursday, 14/12, by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo", the note reads.

According to the statement, the aforementioned unit will have "the main function of receiving and treating natural gas, coming from the Angola LNG factory for end users (power generation, fertilizer factories, petrochemicals, among others), expanding industrial use of domestic gas, promote greater local employability and social stability".

Sonangol was in charge of the construction contract, which was carried out "as part of the national program to increase the domestic use of natural gas".
