In addition to the objectives for the new year, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Empresa Portuária do Amboim, Francisco Fernandes, also addressed the challenges faced by Porto Amboim, in the province of Cuanza Sul. According to the person in charge, there is a problem with the dredging of the quays, which "will be solved with the concessions or allocation of licenses that will be granted to private operators to facilitate maritime navigation".

Speaking to Angop, the official added that at the moment the construction of a deep water port is not in the plans, but rather a revitalization of commercial activity in some terminals such as PAENAL, Estaleiro Atlântico do Amboim, Sonangol Distribuidora, SONAGÁS and Wang Festão. "All this involves solving the dredging of the quays to attract ship traffic and stimulate trade", underlined the PCA to Angop.

Francisco Fernandes also said that the possibility of granting other concessions to companies interested in investing in the waterfront under his company's management was still open, taking into account the Port Planning Plan.

It should be recalled that this plan has existed since 2021, with the participation of the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Transport, with a plan for dynamization, investments, recapitalization, ship access and maritime signaling being planned – in the case of Porto Amboim .

The possibility of the Government installing a Naval Shipyard in Porto Amboim was also advanced, "which will work with PAENAL and possibly with Sonangol", advanced the official.
