A presidential decree, distributed to the press, highlights the punctual revision process of the Constitution of the Republic, which changed the legal framework of the BNA and enshrined the procedure for appointing the governor by the President of the Republic after hearing in the National Assembly.
The document also underlines that "all the formalities required by the Law of the National Bank of Angola were fulfilled, with a favorable opinion on the nomination of the candidate indicated for the aforementioned position".
José de Lima Massano, who has headed the central bank for nine years, interpolatedly, was heard on Wednesday by the parliamentary committees on Economy and Finance and on Constitutional and Legal Affairs, which sent the President of the Republic a favorable opinion.
