ANPG opens competition to auction blocks in the Basins of Lower Congo and Kwanza

The National Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) will open an international tender to award new oil concessions to nine blocks, three located in the Lower Congo Basin and six in the Kwanza Terreste Basin.

:

ANPG, "as a national concessionaire, has just announced its intention to hold an international tender for the award of new oil concessions in Angola", can be read in a statement published on the agency's website.

According to the note, the CON1, CON5 and CON6 blocks of the Lower Congo Terreste Basin and the KON5, KON6, KON8, KON9, KON17 and KON20 blocks of the Kwanza Basin will be tendered.

"The contest advances 120 days from this date [31 December], i.e. 30 April 2021", says the ANPG.

Those interested in participating will have to pay an entry fee of one million dollars, "which will allow access to the data packages relating to the basins to be tendered", and may submit their bids until June 9, 2021.

The opening ceremony of the bids will take place on June 10, 2021.

Paulo Jerónimo, Chairman of ANPG's Board of Directors, cited in the statement, considers that this bid will help to "re-launch the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the onshore areas of the aforementioned basins, reduce the decline in production by increasing the exploration and discovery of new resources, stimulate the local creation of small and medium oil companies, promote the incorporation of Angolan qualified labour, as well as foster technological innovation and good governance practices".

The date and place of the technical presentations will be made in due time on the ANPG portal and the media, completes the note.
