BNA recommends alternatives to ATMs without explaining queues

The National Bank of Angola (BNA) recommended that alternatives be used to bank counters or automatic teller machines (ATMs) where long lines have been taking place in recent days, without advancing the causes that justify what happened.

Since the last week, banks and ATMs have been experiencing major floods in Luanda, due to the difficulties of making cash withdrawals.

In a note released on Thursday on its website, the BNA emphasizes that large crowds of people should be avoided due to the covid-19 pandemic, advising other options for making payments for purchases and services, transfers and balance inquiries that they do not require a trip to a commercial bank counter or an ATM.

The BNA suggests, in particular, the use of internet and mobile banking solutions from commercial banks, as well as the use of the Multicaixa card and the Multicaixa Express application, which allows, via mobile phone, to pay for services and purchases, including water, electricity, television , internet, charge your phone, check your balance and movements, make transfers and withdrawal requests without a card.

Lusa contacted the BNA to find out the reasons for the lack of money at ATMs, without success so far.
