Costums tariff extends exemptions takes effect on December 29

The revised customs tariff, which takes effect on 29 December, extends exemptions for humanitarian products and eliminates the 5 percent charged on raw ore exports.

The General Tax Administration (AGT) said, in a press release, that the revision made "maintains the basic assumptions" of the current tariff in the 2017 version of the harmonized system, and "fits the current macroeconomic context" of the country.

According to the tax authorities, the new customs tariff favors the promotion of national production, the attraction of investment and the promotion of employment of the national workforce and corresponds to the signs of growth of the national business community.

The revised document also seeks to "provide proper alignment" to the Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Substitution Program (Prodesi).

"Thus imposing the adjustment of the rates of products that can already be obtained locally and the reduction of raw materials and other inputs are indispensable for domestic production," the note said.

In addition to adjusting for exemptions, such as extending humanitarian exempt goods imported by churches and non-governmental organizations, the revised tariff "fully exempts" goods imported under private investment projects.

According to the AGT, the review aligns with the entry into force of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union free trade zones.

The Value Added Tax (VAT), in force in Angola since 1 October, with a flat rate of 14 percent was also one of the fundamentals of the revision of the agenda, which "made it unnecessary to repeat the various tables attached to the diploma. "

As a result of the excise duty regarding on imports, it is noted in the document that "it was also not necessary to refer to the attached tables of that tax, given the small number of products to which it applies".
