The sponsorship of the projects, inaugurated by the minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, is part of the social responsibility policy of the companies, which have been working on the 3D seismic of the blocks auctioned in the Namibe basin.

The first school opened this Tuesday, is located in the Belo Monte neighborhood and was built by Aguysan. It has seven classrooms and its construction exceeded 96 million kwanzas. The second, located in the Mayombe district, was built by Promil, has 13 classrooms and cost approximately 200 million kwanzas.

The inauguration was witnessed by the Secretary of State for Pre-School and General Education, Pacheco Francisco, by the Vice-Governor of Luanda for the Social Area, Dionisio Fonseca, by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil and Gas Agency, Belarmino Chitangueleca , by the representative of PGS, José Issenguele and by the administrator of Cacuaco, Auzílio Jacob.

Diamantino Azevedo was satisfied with this contribution to improving the quality of life of the population, especially the younger ones: "We are all pleased to witness the inauguration of these schools that will serve the local population and beyond. It is a result of the policies created by the our Executive, within the scope of social responsibility projects in the oil sector".

"Our mineral resources are only valuable when they effectively favor the people and, in this context, this sponsorship arises from social responsibility. Therefore, projects like these fill us with pride because we are able to respond to the community's cry for help," he added still the minister.

For the Secretary of State for Education, the offer of the school for children who finish the first cycle is commendable, "because that way we will reduce the considerable number of children outside the education system".

The official also stated that, as the first quarter of the school year is still taking place, and classes are scheduled to resume on January 3rd, 1200 more children could thus be included in the education system with this school unit.
