The minister of State and head of the Military House of the President of the Republic said, in Luanda, that concrete measures were going to be given to face the acts of vandalizing public assets that were taking place in the country.

Francisco Furtado led a delegation made up of leaders from the Ministry of Energy and Water, the provincial government of Luanda and the National Police on a visit to the streets of the capital, with the aim of evaluating public lighting.

The government official noted the theft of 160 meters of cable in several streets in Luanda, leaving the area completely in darkness, according to a note from the Ministry of Energy and Water.

On Avenida Deolinda Rodrigues, according to the document, much of the area is without public lighting due to acts of vandalism, which left 12 electrical towers inoperative.

"We need to end these behaviors, these attitudes, and we hope that in the coming days there will be a more adequate response from the law and security forces to end this type of behavior, which is affecting not only the security of the country, but also they are causing considerable damage to the economy," Francisco Furtado said in statements to the press.

The government official considered that the State has to impose rules, and "putting things in their proper places, because continuing with this behavior always gives the possibility of continuing to have this type of acts".

"So we will actually guide the concrete measures to be taken from now on and I hope that from now on the mentors of these acts will have their days numbered", he stressed.

The authorities are already working to replace the cables that were removed, stressed Francisco Furtado, stressing that the most important thing is that some measures are taken to prevent such situations from happening again, particularly in the city.
