In a statement sent to VerAngola, TAAG informs that, as part of the continuity of the process of gradual transfer of commercial passenger operations to the aforementioned airport, it will "comply with phase II of the transition, which includes the Eastern provinces, namely Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul and Moxico, as well as the province of Zaire, whose connection with Luanda, will be carried out exclusively via AIAAN, from Tuesday, December 10, 2024".
However, the four routes do not all start on the same day. According to the flight schedule from the new airport, flights to Soyo (in Zaire) and Saurimo (in Lunda Sul) are scheduled to begin on the 10th of next month.
According to TAAG, there will be five flights to Soyo per week, "departing from Luanda on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with the inaugural flight departing from AIAAN on December 10, 2024".
As for Saurimo, which also has an inaugural flight from the new airport scheduled for December 10, there will be seven frequencies per week, with daily departures from Luanda.
Luena, in Moxico, will be the third destination to see flights debut. According to the flag airline, this destination will have "three weekly frequencies, departing from Luanda on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with the inaugural flight departing from AIAAN on December 11, 2024".
Finally, flights to Dundo, in Lunda Norte, will be launched, which will have four frequencies per week, "departing from Luanda on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with the inaugural flight departing from AIAAN on December 12, 2024".
The airline informs that the services will be operated by a Dash 8-Q400 model aircraft, capable of transporting 74 passengers, 64 of which in economy class and 10 in business class.
It is worth remembering that the debut of passenger flights at AIAAN took place on November 10th, with flights on the Luanda-Cabinda route. This debut took place one year after the President of the Republic inaugurated the new airport, whose inauguration ceremony took place on November 10, 2023.
