According to a statement from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, to which VerAngola had access, this is Maaden International Investment from Oman, which from now on will hold the shares of Alrosa, a Russian diamond company "affected by North American and European sanctions, joining the Angolan public diamond company Endiama".

In addition, the subsidiary of the sovereign wealth fund of the Sultanate of Oman will also replace Alrosa in Sociedade Mineira do Luele, says the note.

On the occasion, Diamantino Azevedo clarified that the sanctions applied to the Russian company were creating "difficulties for the national diamond industry", as well as the credibility of national diamonds in the international market, leading the President of the Republic to direct the guardianship and Endiama to "the find a solution that suits both parties".

"Until now, our country has never been sanctioned because the presidents of Angola, Namibia and Botswana took a concerted position with the G7 (group of the most industrialized countries in the world)", said the holder of the Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas portfolio.

The decision to leave Alrosa comes months after Angola and the Russian government held several negotiations on the matter.
