As it is a private initiative of the Adérito Areias group, the factory will not only produce caustic soda, but also sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid.
According to a statement from the provincial government of Benguela, to which VerAngola had access, construction of the factory will last 18 months, with the unit being "implemented on a plot of land measuring 50 thousand square meters, in the municipality of Baía Farta".
The governor of Benguela, Manuel Nunes Júnior, who laid the first stone, said, at the time, that the "factory is a chain that is being built and that has several segments in which other businesspeople will be able to participate".
Thus, he considered "this to be just the beginning of the development of this great logistics chain that is being built, whose products that will be manufactured are of great importance for the development of the national industry, as well as having a great impact on the process of diversification of the national economy", says the statement.
Furthermore, the provincial governor highlighted the Adérito Areias group as "an unquestionable reference in the business context of the province and the country, because with this factory, it will open other business opportunities for other entrepreneurs who want to be part of the salt value chain".
The factory, according to Expansão, is budgeted at 27.3 million dollars.
In terms of production, according to data provided by Jornal de Angola, the manufacturing unit will have a daily production target of 12 tons of caustic soda, 66 tons of sodium hypochlorite and 25 tons of hydrochloric acid.
According to Mário Rui, project director, to achieve this level of production, between 22 and 25 tons of salt will be needed per day.
This factory is in line with the fact that it is necessary to strengthen the salt value chain, at a time when the country has achieved self-sufficiency in this product. "We have reached self-sufficiency at the production level, which is why we are moving on to other paths, hence the emergence of the new industry," said Tânia Areias, quoted by Expansão.
It is worth remembering that, in January of this year, the installation of the soda factory in the province of Benguela had already been announced.
