According to a statement from the Cuanza Norte government, to which VerAngola had access, the hemodialysis center at the aforementioned hospital is capable of "serving 88 patients daily in four shifts".
The opening of this service, which took place last Saturday and which aims to assist "citizens of the province and beyond, with kidney failure, in order to avoid seeking the service in neighboring provinces", was attended by the provincial governor of Cuanza Norte, João Diogo Gaspar, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta.
On the occasion, the governor of Cuanza Norte "solidarized with the patients and assured that humanized care continues to be the watchword in the health sector and the province of Cuanza Norte is no exception", reads the statement.
According to João Diogo Gaspar, "this is an immeasurable gain, being the first time that the province has benefited from this service and that many patients moved to other provinces, facing constraints of different natures".
The governor also said it was "satisfying and rewarding to see the joy on the patients' faces, for receiving care closer" to home.
It is worth mentioning that the hemodialysis service at the Cuanza Norte General Hospital, named "Mário Pinto de Andrade", opened before the official inauguration of the hospital unit, which will be inaugurated this Tuesday by the President of the Republic.
To this end, João Lourenço traveled this Monday to Cuanza Norte, where he will undertake a two-day workday. According to the Secretary of the President of the Republic for Institutional Communication and Press Affairs, Luís Fernando, the head of state will work on Tuesday and Wednesday in that province.
"On the first day of the program established for this mission outside the capital, the head of state inaugurates the Cuanza Norte General Hospital, which will be named after the nationalist Mário Pinto de Andrade", said the official, in a video released by CIPRA and the that VerAngola had access to.
João Lourenço's agenda in that province also includes holding the "usual meeting of the central government, with members of the provincial government", which is an "opportunity in which the reality of the territory is explained in depth", pointed out Luís Fernando.
During his visit to Cuanza Norte, the President of the Republic will also visit the "water collection infrastructure from the Lucala river", as well as visiting a fair in Ndalatando to see the province's agricultural potential.
João Lourenço's return to Luanda is scheduled for Wednesday.
