Picasso's works continue their journey across the country and arrive in Bié

The exhibition of works by the well-known Spanish painter Pablo Picasso arrived in the province of Bié, where they will be available for free visits until December 16th, at the Instituto Politécnico de Artes Walter Cambodia. They can be enjoyed from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

After Luanda, Huíla, Benguela and Huambo, “O Enterro do Conde de Orgaz" and "A Flauta Dupla", two collections made up of 28 works by Pablo Picasso, are now available for art lovers in Bié to enjoy.

The main objective of the exhibition is to show the public, especially younger people, in particular art students, as well as visual artists, works by one of the greatest art masters of the 20th century, says a statement sent to VerAngola.

The Vice-Governor for the Technical Sector and Infrastructure of the province of Bié, Edgar Hilário, cut the opening ribbon for the exhibition, representing the Governor of Bié, Celeste Adolfo. The event was also attended by the Executive Administrator of ENSA, Amália Barbosa, the Rector of the International University of Kwanza, Carlos Martinez, and the Director of the Walter Cambodja Polytechnic Institute of Arts, Gaspar Cassova.

During his speech, Carlos Martinez highlighted the role of FUNIBER and the International University of Cuanza in training young people. “The opening of the extraordinary exhibition of engravings by Picasso – ‘The Double Flute’ and ‘The Burial of the Count of Orgaz’ –, at the Fundação Universitária Iberoamericana, in the province of Bié, gives me the opportunity to briefly present the work to all participants FUNIBER educational and cultural. For many reasons, Angola is a key country in our historical and cultural community and FUNIBER wanted to put its best efforts into this dear Nation,” he said.

The Executive Administrator of ENSA, Amália Barbosa, stressed: “After having exhibited them in Luanda, Huíla, Benguela and Huambo, several works by the artist are now on display for the first time in Bié, also as a testimony to the excellent relations that Angola has had to maintain with his country of origin, Spain”. “The exhibition we inaugurate today meets ENSA’s ambition to decentralize its initiatives to promote and disseminate culture and art in its various formats, added Amélia Barbosa.

Also present at the opening of the exhibition were representatives of public and private companies, members of the Provincial Government of Bié, teachers and university students.

The exhibition, open to the public with guided tours, is supported by ENSA, the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER) - holder of the collections - the Spanish Embassy in Angola, the International University of Cuanza and AJS Transportes e Logística.
