The activity, according to a statement sent to VerAngola, is organized in partnership with the Lisima Foundation, "responsible for implementing National Geographic's Okavango Wildlife Project in Angola" and will allow young people to learn photography techniques with National Geographic professionals, as well as local photographers.
"In total, 20 young higher education students from four provinces, namely Luanda, Bié, Moxico and Cuando Cubango, will participate in the workshop, some of which were selected from partner institutions of the Lisima Foundation", points out the note.
Thus, for this first edition in the country, young people aged between 18 and 25 were chosen who "are interested in photography, but without the opportunity to acquire a professional camera or learn to deepen their knowledge in the area".
"The group is made up of boys and girls from the cities of Luanda, Luena, Kuito and Menongue", who will learn "photography techniques with National Geographic explorers Jahawi Bertolli, Federico Pardo, Kerllen Costa and Mauro Sérgio", whose last two they are Angolans.
In addition, participants will also be accompanied by local photographers Paula Agostinho, Tucunaré Lopez, Vandilson Almeida, Paulo Perestrelo and the poet and writer Elizangela Rita.
"They will lead photography tasks, encouraging young people to explore the environment around them and express their own voices," the note says.
Thus, this photography workshop in Cabo Ledo "is an opportunity for young Angolans to hone their skills and broaden their perspectives, strengthening the voice of youth in the global photographic narrative".
The National Geographic Photo Camp's primary mission is to "inspire the next generation of storytellers by allowing them to examine their ideas and see the power of their voices through photography and writing," with presentations and public screenings of this project "showcases young people's global perspectives on issues important to society."
