Both 'palancas' and 'tubarões' played a weak, uninspired game with no chances to score, so the match ended with 0-0 on the scoreboard. Angola had a slight rise in the first half, but without justifying the goal.

The winner of the group will qualify directly for the World Cup, with Cameroon being the big favorite for the spot.

Cuca, from União de Leiria, was a starter in Cape Verde's eleven and Hélio Varela, from Portimonense, and João Correia, from Desportivo de Chaves, were substitutes used.

Angola, coached by the Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves, presented Kialonda Gaspar and Manuel Keliano, from Estrela da Amadora, as starters.

In the next round, Angola plays in Mauritius and Cape Verde visits Eswatini, on Tuesday.
