"We will continue to work with the Government of Angola, we will continue to work with Minister Azevedo, we will continue to work with Endiama, who are one of our well-respected partners, so that we can increasingly expand our activities in this sector", said the person responsible, in statements at the end of a meeting with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, which took place last Tuesday.

According to a statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access, the meeting served to analyze the company's investment projects in Angola.

"With two mining investment contracts to explore diamonds in the provinces of Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul, the South African diamond company is carrying out electromagnetic studies, which aim to locate kimberlite", the note reads.

Regarding these studies, the company's CEO made it known that they are 50 percent completed.

"I am pleased to say two things about this: firstly that these studies are already 50 percent complete. This will allow us to move forward and the next phase would be carrying out magnetic research using aircraft. The second phase will be the drilling so that we can really certify whether there are diamonds in Angolan soil", he stated, quoted in the note.

The official also highlighted "the reforms implemented by the Executive, with a view to attracting foreign investment and which encouraged De Beers' return to operations in Angola, after an absence of ten years", reads the statement.

Al Cook highlighted, among the measures, Angola's adherence to the International Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, "currency liberalization and visa liberalization".

On that occasion, he said he had told the President of the Republic "that Angola is a country that has very important resources and resources that should be used. But all these (resources) will only create value thanks to the work that has been undertaken by the President of the Republic ".

João Lourenço receives message from Saharawi counterpart

Also during the day on Tuesday, João Lourenço received a message from his counterpart from the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, Ibrahim Ghali, highlighting "the crucial role played by Angola in the pacification of Africa".

According to another statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access, "the message was transmitted during an audience granted to Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, advisor to the Statesman of that country".

"I conveyed to His Excellency the President of the Republic the message from your brother President Ibrahim Ghali about the cooperative relations that exist between the two countries and also about the pivotal role that Angola plays in the liberation of Africa and in the support of brotherly countries," said Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, mentioned in the note.

On the occasion, he also mentioned that both countries "maintain solid and historic relations, benefiting not only their own people, but also other African nations".
