According to a statement sent to VerAngola, the holder of the Finance portfolio will attend and participate as a speaker at this year's edition of the event.

With the theme "Promoting an Inclusive, Attractive and Innovative Oil and Gas Industry in Angola", the event will receive the minister "in high-level panels, exclusive networking sessions, individual meetings and various forums where the minister will promote the attractiveness of the Angolan oil and gas sector, will network, discuss, negotiate and sign investment agreements with global investors".

The statement also mentions that the presence of Vera Daves at the event "will be crucial in the formation of important discussions on investment opportunities for local, regional and global companies throughout Angola's oil and gas value chain, as the largest oil producer of Africa seeks to maximize the development, exploitation and monetization of its vast energy resources to drive energy security and socio-economic development".

Since she was appointed as Minister of Finance in 2019, the note adds, the minister has been essential in renewing the business and financial climate and positioning the country "as a world-class energy investment destination".

As a result, a "growing number of major global energy companies and international independents, including TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil, Eni and Chevron, are launching massive investment campaigns in the southern African country," the statement added.

Before taking over the reins of the Ministry of Finance, Vera Daves worked as "Finance Technician at Sonangol ESSA, in executive positions at the Capital Markets Commission in Angola and at Banco Privado Atlântico and as a finance professor in the Executive MBA promoted by Catholic Business School Alliance and at UCAN – Business School".

Thus, the note adds, her vast experience in finance and in the energy sector makes her "the ideal candidate to lead the dialogue on investments at AOG 2022".

"As the first woman to be appointed Minister of Finance in Angola", Vera Daves will also discuss "the importance of gender diversity and inclusivity in the conduct of investments and in the expansion of Angola's oil and gas industry".
