Sonangol, ENDE and RNT bet on renewable energies and invest more than 40 million in the project

A total of 42 million dollars is how much Sonangol, the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE) and the National Electricity Transmission Network (RNT) will invest in a renewable energy project.

The result of the initial contract signed between the three public companies, the investment concerns the Caraculo Photovoltaic Power Plant Project, in Namibe.

João Baptista Borges, minister of Energy and Water, considered that the project will make it possible to transport his production to the provinces of Huíla, Namibe and then to the rest of the country.

Quoted in a note posted on Facebook by the Ministry of Energy and Water, the government official said that "the construction of this important project" will bring "significant steps towards the energy transition with the reduction of costs with the production of energy, making it more accessible for all ".

In turn, Diamantino Azevedo, minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, said that the initial of this agreement "constitutes premises to carry out the energy purchase contract, thus giving investment promoters the guarantee of payment for the energy produced that will be injected on the public electricity grid".

The minister also took the opportunity to recall that "with the signing of the contract, the photovoltaic project will have a connection capacity of 50 megawatts, with the first phase being 25 megawatts, with construction starting in December this year, and completion in the fourth semester of 2022".
