Jean Piaget University will “investigate” a complaint involving Portuguese managers

The Dean of the Jean Piaget University denied knowing about an investigation by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) to managers of the institution, saying that internal diligences will be made "to ascertain what happened".

:

The weekly Valor Económico reported that PGR is investigating the university's team of Portuguese managers for signs of money laundering, tax evasion and aid to illegal immigration, following a public complaint made by the teaching and non-teaching staff of that institution. higher education on 12 October.

Speaking to Lusa this Wednesday, Samuel Victorino said that the university "is functioning normally" and that he has only just learned about the news involving officials from the university's promoter, the Instituto Piaget de Angola Association (AIPA).

“The institution will know what is happening. Internally, we are going to do our démarches to find out what is going on and if there is any investigation by the PGR. We need to talk to colleagues ”, he stressed.

The weekly also said that university employees threatened to go on strike if the employer did not pay overdue wages, a situation that Samuel Victorino said was already outdated.

“There was a dialogue meeting with the professors who expressed the need to obtain guarantees for the payment of arrears [wages]. An internal solution has been found and the problem is solved, ”said the rector, without giving further details.

On the complaint of Portuguese citizens working in the central structure of the university without any work or stay visa in the national territory, also reported by the newspaper, Samuel Victorino confirmed that there were contacts from the Migration and Foreigners Services (SME). “They verified that everything is in order”, he guaranteed.

Lusa tried to contact PGR to obtain further clarification, without success.
