PR inaugurates academy in Kilamba that will train 1800 diplomats per year

João Lourenço went this Thursday to the Centrality of Kilamba, in Luanda, to inaugurate the Diplomatic Academy "Venâncio de Moura". The infrastructure works, which was built in 19 months, cost 16 million dollars and were the result of financing from the government of the People's Republic of China.

The institution will offer specialization courses of different levels, being able to train 1800 people in diplomacy and international relations, per year.

According to Angop, the Diplomatic Academy "Venâncio de Moura" was installed in an area of four hectares, being composed by 29 classrooms and 11 buildings.

It has a sports hall, tennis court, gymnasium, an administrative building, a services building, an auditorium, a medical post, a refectory with capacity for 290 people and two parking lots able to accommodate 128 cars.

The academy also has, a consular practice room, a protocol and ceremonial practice room, library, two computer labs - each equipped with 28 computers -, two language labs - with capacity to accommodate 25 students - dormitories with 23 suites for teachers and 78 for students, with capacity to accommodate a total of 234 trainees.

In addition to the courses, the infrastructure will also be made profitable through the operation of the cafeteria, the rental of the auditorium, the playing fields, the gymnasium and the students' dormitories.

In 1998, it emerged as an Institute of International Relations, and in 2002 it began to give the International Relations course. It was in that year that it began to be considered as a higher institute.

In 2017 it was called Instituto Superior de Relações Internacionais "Venâncio de Moura". Now the Diplomatic Academy "Venâncio de Moura" is established. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the academy was built as part of the reform made to the higher education system.
