Before 11 am, time for which the banned demonstration was scheduled, the youth tried to approach the agreed location, next to the Santa Ana cemetery, from where they were to leave towards the city center, but were prevented by the barriers that the police had installed in the zone.

Shouting slogans like "the police belong to the people are not from the MPLA" or singing the national anthem, in an attitude of confrontation with the authorities, the young people were targeted by police charges, using rubber bullets and tear gas, and fled to the neighborhoods adjacent to the zone.

Since then, elements of the Rapid Intervention Police have tried to intimidate young people, entering the neighborhoods, many with dirt roads, to disperse the protesters. But, on several occasions, young people have reorganized themselves and have tried to carry out protest actions on the main road, Avenida Deolinda Rodrigues.

The Portuguese witnessed several police raids in the adjacent neighborhoods where groups of young people defied the authorities, appealing to the right of demonstration and emphasizing its peaceful ends.

Police repression, in keeping with the government's decision to ban the demonstration, prevented young people from approaching the city center and Largo da Independência.

According to the activists, there are injuries among the protesters and, at around 1 pm, groups of protesters tried again to occupy the main road, shouting "no violence". In response, the police fired more tear gas.
