Mine in Huíla marks Angola's return to the list of gold producers

The installation of the Chipindo gold mine in Huila will allow the country to produce gold again. The expectation is that the mine will be able to produce, on average, 4.5 kilos of gold concentrate per month.

In a statement, quoted by Angop, the mining sector explains that after the initial refining, production can reach about four kilos of gold (dore bars).

Lafech Mining, together with Ferrangol, is the first company under Angolan law to extract and recover gold. The note also states that, 45 years after becoming independent, the country has entered the list of gold producers.

Deimang SA was hired to work as operator. The agreement provides for production sharing with Lafech Mining.

The unit, which has been operating for about two years, currently has the collaboration of 55 workers from the provinces of Huila, Huambo, Benguela and Luanda.

It should be recalled that last year, Ferrangol administrator, Kayaya Cahala, revealed that the country planned to start four gold exploration projects. At the time, he said that Chipindo's project was the most important and was at the most advanced stage.

The Chipindo mine has an area of 664.30 square kilometers.
