With a career of almost 20 years, this is the actress' first prize. Isalina Gonçalves, who won this award for her performance in the short film "A Testemunha", said she was very happy with this achievement.
"When my director called me, I was very far from imagining that this would be the big news, I felt happy and jumped with joy. You don't work for awards, but I dedicated myself a lot to this project and I gave everything of myself, however, this beautiful recognition is simply the result of a team work that, by the way, was well done", he said, in an interview to the Platinaline.
Isalina Gonçalves took her first steps in the world of acting in the Horizonte Njinga Mbande theater company, having already participated in several plays, such as "A Sogra" and "Casado sem Casa", and in soap operas such as "Jikulumessu" and "Minha Terra Minha Mãe".
The director of the film, Ngouabi Silva, admitted that this award "has a taste of victory" and shows that he is moving in the right direction. "Even in a difficult period like this, when we have to make our productions with great caution because of the covid-19 pandemic, I feel it's the recognition that our work has been done with some brio despite the difficulties," he added.
"We Angolan artists and those of the seventh art are also willing to distribute, create and show our knowledge, we just need some support," added Ngouabi.
"The Witness," a 13-minute short film, tells the story of a woman who wakes up without memory amidst the rubble. She begins to walk around the place where she is, not knowing what awaits her. As she recomposes herself she reaches a surprising ending.
