Carrinho Agri launches campaign to buy vegetables from Malanje farmers

Carrinho Agri has decided to expand its range of purchased products and will start buying, in addition to corn, other types of vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, onions, cabbage, among others. To this end, the company launched, this Monday, a campaign to purchase vegetables from farmers in two municipalities in the province of Malanje.

The company, in a brief note to which VerAngola had access, reported that the campaign, whose objective is to "support and facilitate the flow" and also "value the work of farmers", begins in the municipalities of Malanje and Cacuso, in the province of Malanje.

According to Edmar Martins, manager of agronomic research and development at Carrinho Agri, 200 tons of vegetables were initially purchased from 400 farmers for the aforementioned municipalities, for an amount of around 100 million kwanzas.

Speaking during the launch of the campaign, the manager said that the products purchased include tomatoes, peppers, onions, cabbage, oranges, bananas and pineapples, which are destined for the company's distribution establishments in the capital.

Within the next few days, according to Angop, the initiative will be extended to other areas of the country where Carrinho Agri operates, starting in Cuanza Sul, where payment can be made in cash or in exchange for pesticides, fertilizers and seeds.

This initiative by the company is seen positively by vendors, who admit that it is an opportunity to sell their products, given the challenges they face due to the lack of customers for large-scale purchases and the deterioration of access roads.

This is the case of Angelino Dombo, owner of Fazenda Agro-Cajiza, who sold two and a half tons of peppers through this campaign, earning two million kwanzas, or Evandro Alves, manager of Fazenda Esperança Catete Sunda, who was able to sell four tons of tomatoes, raising more than one million kwanzas, which will be used to increase production given that large quantities have been spoiled.

According to Angop, prices vary depending on the product being purchased. For example, a kilo of peppers ranges from 500 to 840 kwanzas, while a kilo of tomatoes ranges from 235 to 340 kwanzas, etc.

It should be noted that, until now, Carrinho was mainly focused on purchasing corn in the municipalities of the Songo Region, especially Luquembo (Malanje), as well as in other provinces, as part of its program to support the growth of family farming.

In this most recent campaign, the company created a guide to making the purchase, which can be seen in the images below:
