This Tuesday, João Lourenço went to see up close what is being done so that the city has functional infrastructure.

According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, "the integrated infrastructures of Sumbe, which have been built for over a decade and a half with a troubled history of advances and setbacks, stoppages and restarts", were visited this Tuesday fair by the Head of State.

On the occasion, the President of the Republic "heard explanations about the progress of the works, which are now in a different dynamic towards their completion".

Another highlight of the day was João Lourenço's visit to the agricultural production fair.

According to another note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, the head of State paid a visit to the "agricultural production fair set up on Marginal do Sumbe to show the potential of province in matters of land cultivation".

"A diverse range of products confirmed the leading role of Cuanza Sul as an agricultural power in Angola, not only being notable for its quality but also the fact that there is beginning to be a firm commitment to the transformation and industrialization of what is harvested in the fields", reads the note, which adds that all municipalities in Cuanza Sul were represented at the fair.

In addition to these two activities, Tuesday was also marked by a meeting with the provincial government. Guided by the President of the Republic, the meeting served to analyze the socio-economic situation of the province.

According to the final communiqué of the meeting, to which VerAngola had access, Cuanza Sul "recorded notable improvements in several sectors", highlighting, for example, the education and health sectors, among others.

In the education sector, it is worth highlighting the fact that the province has "a total of 490 schools, with 374 new classrooms having been built between 2020 and 2024, which allowed 33,660 students to enter the education system".

"Still in this field, 9852 students from the I Cycle of High School benefited from scholarships, within the scope of the Girl's Empowerment and Learning for All Project (PAT II)", points out the statement.

With regard to health, with the inauguration of the province's new General Hospital, it now has "360 health units, 296 of which are public, including three general hospitals, 10 municipal hospitals, 36 health centers and 245 health centers".

On the occasion, the "Executive encouraged the advances made in the province of Cuanza Sul due to their direct impact on improving the social conditions of citizens, and carefully noted some emergency needs highlighted by the provincial government", with several recommendations being made.

Among the recommendations is, for example, the fact that "prioritize the elaboration and construction of the Sumbe flood control project, which should include macro and micro-drainage actions, as soon as the ongoing Sumbe integrated infrastructure project is completed "; "carry out works to adapt the Quibaúla Medical Center, which should function as a Pediatric Hospital for the province of Cuanza Sul, as part of the increase in specialized health services", among many others.

After this two-day working day in Cuanza Sul, the President of the Republic has already returned to the capital, having disembarked in Luanda in the early evening of Tuesday.

"Upon arrival, the President of the Republic received greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, and the governor of the province of Luanda, Manuel Homem, among other official entities", points out the Presidency of the Republic.
