Israel: Angola will repatriate 17 citizens this week

Speaking to Lusa, the diplomat highlighted that the embassy contacted the 36 Angolans residing in Israel, given the insecurity following the attacks by the Islamist movement Hamas, of which 11 were no longer in that country.

There are no missing Angolans, highlighted Osvaldo Varela.

Of the 25 Angolans who are in Israel, 17 have expressed interest in being removed, and are being supported by the Angolan government in the repatriation process.

"There will be no special flight, we are waiting for the agencies to place them on commercial flights. I think that in less than a week we will be able to remove everyone", highlighted the Angolan ambassador.

The six Angolans with non-resident status who have already left Israel asked to stop in Portugal, but have Tel Aviv-Luanda tickets, he added.

The Portuguese government made the C-130 available, from the Portuguese Air Force (FAP), which removed Portuguese, Portuguese-Israelis and citizens of other nationalities from Israel, to also transport Angolans, but as they had to go to Cyprus first, these Angolan citizens They ended up continuing their journey on a commercial flight, according to Osvaldo Varela.

The withdrawal of Angolan nationals residing in Israel was one of the issues discussed, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex).
