Film about the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area wins prize at festival in South Africa

A film that portrays the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA) won an award at the Africa International Tourism Film Festival, 2023 edition, which took place in South Africa. It is a short documentary film, whose Production is by Makhulu Media.

According to a statement sent to VerAngola, the short film won a silver award in the wildlife and conservation category.

"A short documentary film about the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA) won a silver award in the wildlife and conservation category at the Africa International Tourism Film Festival, 2023 edition, held in Cape Town, Africa of the South", the note reads.

The short film, according to the statement, addresses the history of the aforementioned conservation area, "the largest terrestrial transboundary conservation area in the world, established after the signing of a treaty, in August 2011, by the governments of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe".

This film highlights "some of the unique features of the landscape, including the rivers, wetland ecosystems and biodiversity", also showing "the people of the region – drawing on narratives about biodiversity, tourism, cultures, livelihoods, history and life experiences alongside wildlife", adds the note.

The short film was produced by Makhulu Media, which received "support from additional images from the National Geographic Society".

It should be noted that the "KAZA area includes an important part of the Zambezi and Cubango basins as well as the Okavango Delta, covering the Caprivi Strip in Namibia, the southeastern part of Angola, southwestern Zambia, the wild lands of northern Botswana and western Zimbabwe".
