Goethe-Institut launches program to train Angolan artists in Germany

The Goethe-Institut Angola and the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg have launched an artistic residency program aimed at Angolan artists residing in Angola, for training in the European country for five months, the German institution announced.

According to the German Cultural Institute, the artistic residency program, applications for which are open until November 1st, will last five months (between April and August 2024) and Angolan artists residing in Angola aged between 25 and 38 are eligible. .

The program, called "Art School Alliance", is aimed only at artists who speak English or German and is part of the international exchange actions launched in 2010 by the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg.

Intensifying connections and exchanges between art institutions, art students and young artists from around the world are the objectives of this program.

According to the Goethe-Institut, a body linked to the German Embassy in Angola, the selected artist will have the opportunity to collaborate with students and teachers from the aforementioned German university during the summer semester of 2024.

In a course that has the character of a seminar or workshop, notes the German institute, the selected artist will explore, together with students from all departments at the university, an artistic field and a practice of their choice.
