Angola attends World Bank and IMF meetings

The country marks its presence at the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which started this Monday (October 10th) in Washington and run until Sunday, October 16th.

According to a brief note from the Ministry of Finance, to which VerAngola had access, the national delegation is headed by the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves.

"A delegation from Angola, led by the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves de Sousa, participates in the traditional annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, which take place from 10 to 16 October, bringing together all relevant players in the economy and international finance, for analysis of current and pertinent matters", can be read in the note.

The Angolan delegation is also made up of Mário Caetano João, Minister of Economy and Planning, and José de Lima Massano, governor of the National Bank of Angola.

On the first day of the event, the note says, the national delegation "was received by the Director General of World Bank Operations, Axel Van Trotsenburg, followed by a meeting with the Regional Vice-President for Eastern and Southern Africa, Victoria Kwakwa".

In addition, the delegation "also held courtesy meetings with the Executive Director at the African Development Bank, João Luís Ngimbi, and with the Executive Director of ANSA at the World Bank, Armando Manuel".

Matters related to the economic diversification agenda, as well as projects carried out by the Government, with the aim of convincing these institutions to finance infrastructure projects, as well as programs from the Executive and the private domain, will be taken by the country to the event, writes Angop.

Angola will also take advantage of the occasion to show the restructuring that is taking place and the projects in progress to guarantee economic diversification, which takes place through the stimulation of national production, improvement of the business environment and development of human capital, writes Angop.

The event will be filled with several meetings, including statutory meetings, such as the meetings of the Development Committee and the IMF Committee and the Ministerial of Constitutions of the IMF and World Bank, in which the country Angola is a part.

The program also foresees the holding of additional meetings, such as the debate under the theme "Building resilience and closing the gaps in the access and use of fertilizers in Africa" ​​and the "Meeting of the working group on the global financial architecture ", writes Angop.

During the six days of the event, matters will be discussed that indicate the direction in which to walk, taking into account the obstacles and opportunities in the post-pandemic period, among other matters.
