Parents and guardians in favor of the new school calendar

The Association of Parents and Guardians of Education manifested itself this Friday according to the new school calendar of the country, which in addition to being equal to the other countries of the Lusophone community, comes to attend cultural issues.

:

The president of the Association of Parents and Guardians, Manuel Diogo, Manuel Diogo said that the change is not new, because this calendar had been dealt with in 2019, with the contribution of the association.

"We were the only country disconnected from the general educational system of the CPLP [Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries] and this was complicating our children's vacation time," he said.

For Manuel Diogo, there is no constraint for its implementation, which represents a great value, considering that holidays in Angola are welcome in the months of August and September, "for traditional reasons".

"This period from August to September is cold in Angola, and there are situations, such as the circumcision of boys, which happens at this time, the period considered most advisable", he explained.

Asked to comment on some complaints about the fact that the new calendar only gives children a month's vacation, Manuel Diogo said it is 45 days of vacation, and the association sees no reason to contradict this position.

Regarding the return to school, Monday, after five months of suspension due to covid-19, the person in charge was favorable to the resumption of classroom teaching, with all necessary precautions.

"We have a public health body that will monitor the situation, so we are sensitized to send our children to schools, with all these measures, in which we have been participating," he said.

Manuel Diogo guaranteed that there are biosecurity conditions in all schools, and the association asked the authorities, that they be permanent.

"We don't want things to be just for the start, but for continuity to continue," he stressed.

The associative leader said that the parents and guardians, organized in the association, will be "supervising", considering just the skepticism that some still show about the return to school.

"This is proper, each parent, in due course, will decide whether or not they really take their child to school, but we advise everyone to send their children to schools," he said.
