Shops, restaurants and markets are already open during reduced hours

Commerce, restaurants and markets in Angola now have more restricted opening hours and new rules due to the increase in cases of covid-19, announced the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President, Adão de Almeida.

The new measures are in force since 00:00 on October 24, also for a period of thirty days, as the previous decree, extending until November 22, aim to "avoid uncontrolled situations due to the decrease in the hospital's response capacity. ", justified the minister.

Trade in goods and services recedes from 9:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with the workforce reduced to a maximum of 50 percent, while restaurants and the like can only operate for face-to-face service until 4:00 pm, with 'take-away' allowed from that time.

Adão de Almeida stressed that the existence of dance floors in restaurants is prohibited, some of which have been "transformed into nightclubs", with non-compliance sanctioned with fines ranging from 250,000 to 350,000 kwanzas.

The markets spend five to three days a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm and can be closed whenever there is no compliance with the rules. The same is true for street vending, with fines being increased between 10 and 15,000 kwanzas.

Individual sports practice will only be possible between 5:00 am and 7:30 am and can also be carried out between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm, with fines between 20,000 and 30,000 kwanzas for those who exercise outside of the established hours.

Activities and meetings can be held in spaces of up to 50 percent of capacity, with music and dance performances once again prohibited.

Religious activities can be carried out up to four days a week, pilgrimages are prohibited.

The gatherings are limited to 15 people at home and five people on the public road, and crowds close to hospitals are prohibited. Funerals can only gather up to ten people in a cemetery, or a maximum of five for covid-19.

Swimming pools and beaches were also closed with fines between 20 and 30 thousand kwanzas, with security forces strictly adhering to the rules.
