According to Rivungo's municipal administrator, Abílio Jornal Sasongo, in statements issued this Monday by public radio, the situation has been going on for a week.
Abílio Jornal Sasongo said that the insects they pass through are devastating the population's crops, especially corn.
"It can reach half a hectare (the affected area) and can cause some food problem", said the responsible, stressing that they are advising the population to use artisan methods to scare the locusts, while they are waiting for an intervention with air means and insecticides.
"We are advising the population to use rudimentary methods, when the locusts pass by, to stay on the fields and with the branches to shoot the locusts and they don't land", he explained.
