The governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba, was responsible for laying the first stone, according to a statement from the provincial government of Bengo, to which VerAngola had access.
"On the morning of Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in the municipality of Dande, in front of the Panguila Market, the provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba, laid the stone for the construction of the first passenger transport terminal in the province of Bengo, in partnership with the Rosalina Express business group", the statement reads.
On the occasion, Diamantina Ruas, supervisor of the transport company, said that the construction project for the aforementioned terminal "is the sole responsibility of the Rosalina Express business group and will last eight months".
Once completed, the terminal will have ticketing services, a café, a barber shop, among others.
In turn, the governor of Bengo, quoted in the statement, said that this is a "project of great importance because it will have a direct impact on the lives of citizens, ensuring greater mobility, convenience and safety in the periodic transport of people and goods".
Calling for the preservation of the terminal, Maria Antónia Nelumba also said that this terminal will allow users to have "predefined schedules that will allow people to travel around Bengo".
The transport company will operate the Luanda/Bengo, Centralidade do Sequele and Zango Zero routes, with specific stops, with a view to facilitating the travel of people who work in Bengo and live in Luanda and vice versa, writes Jornal de Angola.
The company's transport terminal is still in its initial phase, and is initially limited to Panguila, however, in the future it will be extended to the commune of Açucareira (Caxito), where the provincial headquarters will be installed.
"Our services will be open to the public from 5:00 am. In the first phase, we will be able to employ around 15 employees, starting in the ticket office area, passenger assistants and vehicle cleaning assistants at the terminals. Priority will be given to the residents of Dande. Employees close to work minimize costs", said Diamantina Rua, who, quoted by Jornal de Angola, also said that the company intends to expand the network of passenger terminals throughout the country.
