According to Angop, local government entities, traditional people, traders and vendors from the Mutundo market witnessed the ceremony, and ended up welcoming the initiative and predicting reduced prices on certain products, since it will no longer be necessary to travel long distances to buy them.
The construction of the future shopping centre, which will last 18 months, is being carried out in a perimeter of more than 60 thousand square metres.
According to Angop, the project will have 186 commercial establishments, as well as creating more than 1000 jobs.
The project will comprise a main building with seven floors, with the first two being intended for supermarkets and shops, and the rest will be reserved for the implementation of a hotel unit, apartments and offices, ultimately providing several opportunities for entrepreneurs.
According to a statement, cited by Angop, with this initiative, the company wants to boost commercial relations in the provinces of Namibe, Cunene, Huíla and Cuando Cubango, making the most of the Moçâmedes Railway train, as well as the border with neighboring Namibia.
