The Angolans, who throughout the ninety minutes approached the game better in relation to the opponent, twice took the ball to the crossbar of the opposite goal, by Gerson Dala and Mabululu, respectively, with several shots framed with the goal being wasted.
The Angolans return for the ninth time to the African competition, four years later, and finished second in group E, with nine points, behind leader Ghana, who won the group with twelve, as a result of the victory this afternoon over the Central African Republic, by 2-1, and ranked third, with seven, while Madagascar ranked last, with three.
At the end of the game, coach Pedro Gonçalves expressed satisfaction, despite recognizing that there was still a lot of work ahead.
"Once again we managed to reach the final stage of a CAN. We are very satisfied, because we achieved that objective. We try to always be focused on the game, we had difficulties, but we knew how to reveal the spirit of sacrifice. Angola is gaining consistency, but we still have to improve in many things," he said.
Petro de Luanda's left defender Tó Carneiro expressed happiness with the achievement. "I'm very happy, qualifying was very tough, but thank God we did it" he expressed.
