Federation cancels Girabola start after club suspension

The Angolan Football Federation (FAF) canceled the Angola Super Cup game between Petro de Luanda and Académica do Lobito and the start of Girabola, within two weeks, after suspending clubs.

The information was provided by the president of the FAF Sports Technical Council, José Neves.

"Due to the official statement from the FAF, we inform that the Super Cup game, scheduled for the 3rd of this month, as well as the start of the Girabola, on the 15th of September, has been postponed, while we wait for further developments on the reactions of this same statement," he said.

Petro de Luanda, coached by the Portuguese Alexandre Santos, was suspended from all sporting activity for a period of two years, for alleged "failure to comply with the duty of collaboration to which it is bound with the FAF, within the scope of the disciplinary process established", and Académica do Lobito was sanctioned with a penalty of relegation, for an alleged act of corruption in the Angola Cup.

At issue is an audio, which was leaked in June on social media, in which the coach of Académica do Lobito Agostinho Tramagal, also suspended, stated that he had received three million kwanzas from Petro de Luanda, as an incentive to win the 1.º de Agosto in the Angola Cup, and subsequently, keep one million for themselves and divide the rest of the financial amount to the players.

The same audio also included Petro player Márcio Luvambo, who confirmed that the emblem he represents completed the action.
